I am sorry I can’t accept any more free ads. It has gone way beyond what
I can publish! So, if you would like to unsubscribe, follow instructions at bottom of
newsletter.
I am including an article by Robert Taylor that states why you shouldn't use ezine free
ads as marketing tactic. A much better method is to target those ezines that will bring
you the most 'bang for you buck'. Spend the $20, 30 or more for a well written ad that
offers the reader a compelling reason to not only look at your ad, but click to get more
information. Of course, one of the best ways to is to offer something that is free and of
substantial value. Like, Amazing Marketing Tactics -)

And I am offering a free ebook, 7 Secrets To Unlimited Traffic. This is a very informative
book on how to increase traffic to your web site or how to sell more of your products.

Another tactic that I have used with success, is writing articles for ezines. If they are topical
and well written, you will get lots of free advertising. The best information I have read on this
tactic is Rick Beneteau's ebook, Ezine Money.
But as a replacement for free ads, I am offering a free copy of Amazing Marketing Tactics.
This is great resource for those wanting to make money on the Internet. It is packed with valuable
information, tips, and secrets that the 'pros' are using to earn a very comfortable living.

What Are The Top Four Search Engines?
I frequently get asked by customers Which are the top three or four engines,
the ones in whose search results I really want my company to appear? Of course,
Yahoo! comes to mind. And these days, a lot of people think Google's up there.
But you'd be surprised what research shows.
AltaVista reaches 17.7 percent of web users, but Google gets just 7 percent,
according to the latest Media Metrix numbers. So what's the big deal with Google?
Well, it supports Yahoo! Web Pages results, and Yahoo! gets over 50 percent
of the search traffic. Ask Jeeves and Google sell advertisers related but separate
links on their search results pages so users can discern which links are paid for.
I myself have a problem clicking on a link that paid to get my attention. However,
this strategy appears to be very popular with advertisers. (Speaking of paid placements,
GoTo has retained NameLab to help find a new moniker. The process could be completed
by the middle of next year.)
LookSmart and Inktomi charge web sites a fee to be included in their indexes with
no guarantee of where the sites will be ranked within search returns. I like the
no-guarantee clause. It puts the responsibility of presenting the best content into
the hands of paid editors who are building good content for their directories.
The top four engines you want to ensure you're listed in are Yahoo!, AltaVista,
Excite, and LookSmart. Here's why
Media Metrix's ratings show Yahoo!'s audience reach is 69.1 percent. Audience
reach is a measure of how many surfers visit a search engine during a month.
Yahoo!'s web properties were visited by more than half of the active Internet users in
eight countries as measured by ·Nielsen//NetRatings in June, making it the leading
global property. The company's first international report on web use showed Yahoo!
drew 67.8 million visitors in June.
AltaVista gets 50 million searches per day.
StatMarket ratings show what percentage of all search engine-related traffic
came from each of the search engines through the hundreds of thousands of
sites using HitBox counters. The top three are Yahoo! with 53.4% of the traffic,
AltaVista with 18%, and Excite with 6.7%. This totals 78.1% of all search
engine traffic.
LookSmart has two million links. It powers the main results at · MSN,
AltaVista, Excite, and iWon. LookSmart's search service network reaches
more than 52 million people a month, the equivalent of 74 percent of all Internet
users in the U.S.
Excite offers a smart, practical way to further focus a search by giving users
a lot more than just a search engine. It offers everything from news headlines
and a fast-loading personalized start page to directory-style content organization
and chat. This is a nearly irresistible engine for casual searchers and web newbies.
Sure, you want searchers to find you wherever they go. But focusing on getting
listed in these four will help you gain the greatest exposure. In future articles,
I'll cover how important search is to creating strong customer care and improving
e-commerce, e-support, and e-business as a whole. The theme behind these articles
will be not only sharing information and educating readers on where the traffic is but
also getting that traffic to your site.
Paul J. Bruemmer is CEO of Web-Ignite Corporation, a search engine traffic agency.
Founded in 1995, Web-Ignite provides traffic for Fortune 1000 dot-coms and for B2B
and e-commerce sites. Professional search engine registration services deliver incremental,
verified traffic from major search engines and directories. Tracking search engine traffic
to point of acquisition, sale, signup, or any action, gives you the ability to determine ROI.

Abuse Free Ezine Ads - You Lose!
by Robert Taylor
I subscribe to a great number of ezines, some of which
provide free advertising for their subscribers. Of late
a disturbing trend of abusing the privilege of posting
free ads in ezines has emerged.
The evidence is that great numbers of people are in the
habit of subscribing to free-ad ezines and using a fake
(or throw-away) email address. The procedure is to submit
free ads and never look back.
The reasoning behind this is that those posting the free
ads will benefit from the service and not have to pay the
"price" of reading the ezine. You expect others to read
your ad, why not give them the simple courtesy of reading
theirs?
I stated in a previous article about free ads that this
service is a privilege accorded subscribers, and not a
service any ezine publisher is required to provide. The
title of that article is "The Magnificent Gift of Free
E-zine Advertising" and you can get a copy of it by sending
a blank email to artsub1@getresponse.com.
Those who submit free ads using false or throw-away email
accounts cost ezine publishers a great amount of extra
time and effort which could be spent on more productive
items. This becomes a nightmare of rapidly diminishing
returns which could conceivably cause most, if not all,
ezine publishers to totally discontinue free ads.
At this point you are probably thinking, "Big deal!" You
better believe it is a big deal. FFAs and free classified
ad sites are almost totally ineffective because this same
mentality was used in abusing them. How effective is an ad
nobody reads?
As I see it, those subscribing to an ezine for the purpose
of submitting free ads should at least be willing to
provide a valid email address and accord the publisher the
courtesy of reading his/her ezine.
Once the throw-away email in-box is full, all further
messages sent to that address are bounced. Thus, the
publisher cannot verify the email address of the person
submitting the ad and the ad is not published. This is
all a great waste of time and effort.
How would you like it if you published an ezine and groups
of people subscribed just long enough to get a free ad and
then disappeared? Try putting yourself in the publisher's
chair and looking at it from that point of view.
Using fake or throw-away email addresses solely for the
purpose of abusing the privilege of submitting free ads
is the same as spamming someone. There is nothing ethical
or moral about this practice.
I will undoubtedly receive some irate responses to the
following statement, but so be it. No publisher should
feel obligated to provide free ads to obtain subscribers.
The content of their ezine speaks for itself. Where the
publisher wishes to help subscribers by allowing the
posting of free ads, the poster should be required to be
a regular subscriber to the ezine.
Some find this hard to believe, but the Internet should not
be a battlefield. Choose to cooperate with the publishers
instead of going to war against them and you will achieve
much better results.
One of the greatest attributes of the Internet is that we
are hidden behind a computer screen. We are not judged
by our appearance, race, color, creed, social status or
other such things. We are judged solely by what we tell
others about ourselves.
This is also the ugliest part of the Internet. Those who
are rude, discourteous and greedy can hide behind their
computer screens and commit outrageous acts with virtual
impunity. It is like coming into a huge amount of money.
The money does not make a person good or bad, it only
magnifies the goodness or badness.
You have surely seen the meek, mild-mannered soul who
turns into a raging maniac when driving a vehicle. The
Internet has become that vehicle for some of us.
The future of the Internet is in our hands. We can make it
a garbage dump or one of the greatest benefactors known to
humanity. Common courtesy and decency are no less
required on the Internet than in face-to-face dealings.
I wish you the greatest of success in all your ventures!
