Introduction:
I
thought some might be interested in a little experiment I've been running for
the last month. It deals specifically with targeting low competition keywords
and
getting them indexed fairly quickly. It uses a combination of
Wordtracker,
Keyword Results Analyzer (KRA), Website
Article Wizard (WAW), and Article Marketer.
Read
reviews below.
The
Eight Steps
Step
1:
Think of a niche or keyword and research potential in Wordtracker. Find as
many main plus derivatives as you can, don't worry about the daily search
figures - this
is a
numbers game, the more you cover the more you get back!
Step
2:
Import the Wordtracker results into
KeywordResultsAnalyzer and start breaking
them down. (For any who don't have or know of this little tool - It comes from
Dr Williams who I rate highly as worth reading and watching. It allows you to
take a set of emailed results from Wordtracker and break them down against
various criteria, i.e. KEI, total count, daily number of searches, competing
pages which
can be further broken down against individual search engines.
Very, very useful
and the foundation of this exercise)
Step
3:
Create a list of keywords and phrases with a maximum competing pages score of
10 pages or less (i.e. giving you a HUGE step in targeting those specific
searches that have little competition and offer you a big chance of getting
onto page one
of the results quickly) i.e. 'Widgets in aluminum' - 9 daily
searches - 1 competing page. Build the page based on sound SEO and it should
get indexed quite quickly.
Step
4:
Create 1 short article for use as a handcrafted Index.html. Create 2 short
articles of about 3 - 400 words for use as seed articles. Create 2 solid,
carefully written articles of circa 750 words each for submission to article
directories - mainly aiming at Ezinearticles.com as they give the best results
for directing the spiders so far.
Sidenote:
If you read my traffic secrets page you know I use two wonderful
article
creating/submitting
tools.
Article
Marketer allows you to choose from 40,000+ articles on 40+ subjects and use the article
as your own! Yep, it gives you the private label or right to add your bio
resource box with a link to your web site or affiliate link and get a ton of
back links all pointing to that link (cha-ching!).
They
also have added Niche Product Packs with everything from soup to nuts.
They
give you the product, usually an ebook, sales letter and graphics
(including
ebook
cover). Talk about making life easier! I use XSitePro to build fast and
optimized
for Google etal in no time.
But
instead of manually submitting to the 100's of article directories, ezine's
and other related web sites, (tedious, boring and time wasting work), I take
my article found at Infogoround
to Article Marketer
paste it and click on submit and your article is reviewed by human eyes and
submitted automatically. They also leave all your articles in an 'EZ Publish'
database where anyone can simply copy/paste the article to their web site,
newsletter or blog (it is formatted automatically too!). I have seen a
dramatic increase in targeted traffic to either my own web sites or affiliate
links and absolutely love this method of traffic generation!
Step
5:
Take your time in really creating good alternatives within the synonyms, using
phrases instead of single words wherever possible. (I set myself a target of
trying to have at least 6 different synonyms per phrase in the article.) Spin
the 2 seed articles, dividing the keyword list between the two articles,
thereby halving your likelihood of page similarity problems. (In AB I save
these as projects "k'word1" and K'word2", in case I ever need
to go back to them.)
You can also add random images if you want, to further break up page
similarity.
If so, use a .jpeg compression tool first to make sure the pages
stay as fast loading. I don't know php or .css and always use plain html and
on that basis, I always assume everyone still uses a 56k modem and needs the
page to be clean!
Step
6:
Ensure links to affiliate programs work and Adsense code is showing the right
thing by raising one page to your site!! (You can check what Adsense ads are
likely to show on your page by using the checking tool at http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/adsense-sandbox/
)
Step
7:
FTP everything to your site. I'm using a reseller account and hosting all my
sites
on the same IP. No linking between sites, each one a stand alone site.
Sites vary
in size from 45 pages to 167 pages, dependent on what KRA supplies
me with as low competition phrases in each niche.
For
a great web host where you can have unlimited domains for a as little as
$3.95/mo or a reseller account for only $19.95 go
to:
Surf
Speedy
Tracking is done through specific channel codes in Adsense and identifiers in
the various affiliate links. None of the sites are targeting high competition
areas like gambling, mobiles, legal or debts etc.
Results
are quite good to date.
Results
6 weeks = 14 targeted sites, 4 non targeted sites. (3 sites built per week)
No.of pages indexed - targeted sites = 1,395 out of 1,568
non targeted = 87 out of 534
Adsense $ for 6 weeks on targeted sites =
wk1 - 17.87
wk2 - 93.91
wk3 - 221.13
wk4 - 542.12
wk5 - 1,192.68
wk6 - 2,648.34
wk6 results equate to an average of each page of targeted content being worth
$1.89 a week, .27c per day.
Affiliate income on the 14 sites for the 6 weeks is just over $1,500 - that's
for all 14 sites, no great shakes but I'm not going to send it back. On the
non targeted sites the wk6 figures give an average page value of only .67c a
week, .9c a day and the affiliate income is a paltry $22.50
Afterthoughts
The niches targeted are nothing too odd or too common, just everyday items.
I'm going to try a new experiment shortly - of building sites like these but using them to try and sell info
products from Clickbank. I'll probably reduce the amount
of Adsense ads on
these sites hugely - if not completely - but hope to gain much more in
commission through volume of sales by targeting non-competitive phrases.
Oh yeah - I should mention - build of the sites is the same in each. Index
page
with one link to the sitemap page,
sitemap page links to each and every
other page, each AB page links back to homepage. No random links on AB pages,
just hard scripted, targeted anchor text in an html link back to the
index.html. Only other links out are adsense and affiliates.
Oh - and no scrapes at all. Just spun, quality content.
Resources
I use:
KRA is proving to be a real chunk of gold for me and I love it. (I've got two
stored back ups of it - just in case. Totally paranoid about losing it.)
Website
Content Wizard is a fantastic tool to create unique content from your article or
'seed document. I have tried most of the content generators and this is
the
best. It does take some effort getting to the point where in 14 seconds
you
can
create multiple unique, quality articles. It even automatically sends
your articles to projects or web sites created with WebsiteArticleWizard.
Talk about a super neat system.
Wordtracker.
Funny but I put off buying a subscription until all those I know who make a
nice living with niche sites are using WT. It is great and I wish I had used
it years before as you can't get either accurate results of searches with
other software and/or the large numbers or 'niche keywords' to make money
from.
Infogoround -
this is fantastic source for private label articles. Over 4,000 articles in
40+ categories (health, marketing, home...etc). They recently added a
newsletter generator that works like a charm. No more 3-4 hours writing,
editing and formatting your ezine, find an article you like, insert the ID,
enter some basic info and click on done and presto a beautifully laid out
newsletter ready for publication!
Plus
they have added Master Reprint Right Packs on products and articles that have
everything included so you can start promoting and making money
with.
Article
Marketer. For easy and fast article submission they do it all
for you. Plus your articles are listed in a directory for ezine publishers,
web site owners...et al, can easily copy/paste your articles.
